Toyota Taisor To Debut On April 3
The forthcoming Maruti Twin from Toyota will follow the lines of earlier product-sharing protocols. While the sheet metal continues with its structure of Maruti Fronx, expect a refreshed bumper, a tweaked front grill, along with different alloy wheel design for an easy distinction between the brands.
In terms of features, with the exception of Invicto, all the shared models get the same set of features along with the same dashboard design. You will get features like HUD, a 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, automatic climate control, and others. However, you can expect a new interior colour with a different shade of seat upholstery.
Powertrain
Maruti Fronx reintroduced the much-reputed 1.0 litre Boosterjet engine long after its departure from the brand's line-up. This unit churns out 100hp and 147 Nm of torque whereas the naturally aspirated 1.2 litre petrol unit is good for 90hp with 113 Nm of torque. It is obvious that the 1.2-litre unit will be introduced with the Toyota Taisor, courtesy of its higher demand, but it is still unclear if Toyota will get the Boosterjet option.

Expected Price And Rivals
The Toyota Taisor will fill the gap left by the discontinuation of the Urban Cruiser based on the Maruti Brezza in 2022. This will focus on taking a piece of the current trending segment of compact SUVs where it takes on the likes of Maruti Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and others. In terms of pricing, it will carry a slight premium over Maruti Fronx which starts at Rs. 7.51 lakhs ex-showroom.
Verdict
The partnership of Maruti and Toyota seems to be bearing fruits for both the giant carmakers. While Toyota is expanding its line-up with more affordable vehicles than before, Maruti with the Invicto got a full size MPV, which is also the most expensive product in its portfolio. Toyota Taisor will be looking forward to replicate the success of Fronx, which also happens to be the fastest car in India to clock 1 lakh sales.
