Maruti Suzuki officially announced that they will not offer the diesel-powered versions of the cars after the BS6 implementation in the Indian market. To overcome the demand for diesel vehicles, the brand will launch variants powered by alternative fuels like CNG and will also launch hybrid variants. One such launch is the Ertiga CNG BS6 - it is the first Indian CNG car to become BS6 compliant.
The Ertiga CNG BS6 is available in two variants and the price starts at Rs 8.95 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The vehicle is powered by the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 91 Bhp and peak torque of 122 Nm. It gets a five-speed manual transmission.
Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, ⬓At Maruti Suzuki, we continuously strive to offer products that are technologically advanced and environment friendly. With the introduction of Alto BS6 S-CNG, we reinforce our efforts towards sustainable green mobility. The Alto BS6 S-CNG is designed to deliver optimum performance, safety, engine durability, convenience, and mileage. Maruti Suzuki⬢s large portfolio of green vehicles is a testimony of its commitment towards environment. We are encouraged with wide acceptance of S-CNG technology by our customers.⬝
The Ertiga CNG BS6 returns a high fuel efficiency of 26 km/kg. Maruti Suzuki offers a dual-fuel set-up, which means that the vehicle can also run on petrol wherever the CNG fuel option is not available. It gets a 5-speed manual transmission but there is no option of the 4-speed automatic transmission that is available with the regular petrol-only version of the car.
The new Ertiga has become quite popular in the Indian market and has become the best-selling MPV. It is also offered in a new XL6 variant that is sold through the Nexa network of the brand.
Maruti Suzuki also showcased the S-Presso CNG version that will be launched in the coming months. The brand may continue to launch other vehicles powered by the CNG fuel.
