Maruti Suzuki Jimny SUV Accident Details
As reported online (source), the owner of Jimny went through a traumatic experience of a road accident recently. The SUV collided with a bus in Delhi where all occupants came out of it safe. The latest set of photos, shared by the owner himself online, shows that the Jimny has a good build quality. While there are no crash test ratings available for the Indian spec Jimny; the photos of this accident quietly showcase the build quality of Jimny. Meanwhile, the crash test ratings are important for a vehicle to show its structural strength; Jimny seen here, showed that its capable to take strong hits.
The owner Mr. Swapnil Thakur says, I bought my Suzuki Jimny Alpha AT on 12th June 2023. Today, I was travelling with my family. As we reached at Kaushambi Metro, a Govt Bus Coming at full Speed from a wrong side without honking rammed my Jimny from Side. My family and I were completely saved due to airbags and seat belt. But car has gone into a total damage. The A Pillar and the B pillar has completely been broken. I have already got the FIR done against the bus driver.
Mind you, Jimny has received 3-star Euro NCAP crash test ratings. But, the tested model was a 3-door version that is sold globally. The Indian spec is the only 5-door version of Jimny. It is yet to be tested by a global or domestic crash test agency. The Jimny sold in India comes equipped with a single powertrain option. It is offered with a 1.5-lt NA K15-B engine. There are two transmission options to choose from; a 5-speed manual & a 4-speed torque converter automatic.
Verdict
Maruti Jimny is a niche product. It is largely deviated towards the off-road centric buyers. However, its plaint ride quality & decent fuel economy is also attracting buyers with on-road centric use. Meanwhile, the only rival to it is the Mahindra Thar. Thar SUV is sold with an option of a diesel as well as a petrol engine.
