Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross & Jimny 5-Door
Indian auto sector has shifted to SUVs rapidly. The customers are now willing to pay more for stance and space. Hence, every maker like Maruti itself is trying their best in new niches. Speaking of the two SUVs, Maruti will enter into two different segments via the launch of these. The Baleno Cross YTB is going to be a crossover sort of. Maruti will place it alongside the Vitara Brezza as we are speculating.
Meanwhile, rumors are also suggesting that it is a replacement car for the S-Cross. Moreover, Suzuki might equip it with an AWD system as seen on the Grand Vitara. This will give it a true SUV name; if done so. It is expected to be based on the global-C platform and will feature the 1.5-lt K15C motor. Choice of manual & automatic transmissions will be given to the customers. Additionally, it will also offer good fuel economy due to the use of smart hybrid tech.
The second launch is contrary to this sophisticated car. Maruti Jimny 5-Door is going to debut on 11 Jan'23. A direct rival to Mahindra Thar 5-Door & Force Gurkha 5-Door; it is the most speculated launch by the company. Jimny has been a great success overseas for Suzuki. However, the lifestyle SUV segment in India has grown multiple folds in a short time. Hence, Jimny 5-Door makes more sense now. The elongated wheelbase & extra seats will ensure to attract more buyers. It will be offered with a 1.5-lt K15B petrol engine & 4X4 system as well. Meanwhile, features like a sunroof, HUD, etc., will also find their way into it.
Maruti's Electric SUV & Flex-Fuel Model
Tagged as YY8, an electric SUV concept will also be showcased at the Expo. This SUV concept will focus on the upcoming tech from the company. Additionally, it will also lay a foundation for future Maruti SUVs. It seems that Maruti wants to read the interest of customers and audiences about the new YY8. Hence, it will be put on display. It is a Hyundai Creta-size SUV which means it will focus on a productive future segment. The success of models like Tata Nexon EV Max has shown the potential of the EV SUV market. Hence, Maruti might not want to miss the beat of it. As per the official press release, the YY8 will be manufactured in Gujarat.
Meanwhile, Wagon R flex-fuel will also be on display. However, considering the lack of technical development for flex-fuel infra; it will probably just remain a showcase car. The lack of interest by the government in this sector and the hefty costs involved are restraining a lot of makers to enter the flex-fuel market. However, Maruti wants to showcase it to the public to read the interests of people.
Verdict
If you're looking forward to the Auto Expo'23, Maruti will have an interesting show for you. The debut of two production SUVs and an electric SUV is just one thing. Maruti will also showcase its current product lineup alongside. Fun fact, you can book your Maruti Suzuki car at the Auto Expo itself.
