As can be seen, it is the XL6 that delivers the highest mileage of 20.97 kmpl with the stick shift followed by Ertiga which returns 20.51 kmpl. The 1.5L DualJet motor when paired with the 6-speed AT returns 20.3 with the Ertiga kmpl compared to 20.27 kmpl of the XL6. Kia Carens delivers 15.7 kmpl with the 1.5L non-turbo petrol MT while the 1.4L turbo petrol returns 16.2 with the 6-speed MT and 16.5 kmpl with the 7-speed DCT.

Both Maruti XL6 and Ertiga are powered by a newer, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, DualJet, naturally aspirated petrol motor with mild-hybrid technology. This engine produces as much as 102 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 136.8 Nm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and also gets a 6-speed AT as an option.
On the other hand, Kia Carens is offered with two petrol engine options - 1.5L non-turbo petrol generating as much as 113 bhp of power with 144 Nm of peak torque and a more powerful, 1.4L turbo petrol that churns out 138 bhp of power and 242 Nm peak torque. Both the engines are mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and for the automatic, 1.4L gets a 7-speed DCT. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine of the Carens is only available with a manual transmission.
