Next Generation Skoda Superb to Make its Global Debut in 2 Years

Skoda Auto on Saturday announced that it has started with the production of its next-generation Superb at its Bratislava plant. The Czech is expected to launch the new car by the second quarter of 2023.

The Superb is its carmaker's oldest premium sedan and enjoys a rather high fan following. Skoda has already sold seven lakh-plus copies of this car and is now getting ready to soon introduce the next-generation model.

The existing Skoda Superb is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI 140 kW petrol engine mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The next-gen model will have a futuristic design language with Skoda's latest DNA and the cabin would be much more luxurious and updated with new features and technology. It will come equipped with an octagonal front grille, new LED tail lamps with signature C-shaped graphics, sleeker LED headlamps, and a power dome on the hood.

According to the circulated images of the prototypes, the new-generation Skoda Superb will have a clear visual connection with the existing Octavia. It will be built on the existing MQB platform and will be available in multiple variants. Skoda is even planning to introduce plug-in hybrid variants and electric powertrains as well. Skoda will offer Superb in Combi and Liftback versions, depending on the market demand and it is also expected that a RS version will also be available.

To enhance the driving experience, the sedan will come with more premium and advanced features, including a heads-up display, multi-zone climate control, smartphone storage docks and shift-by-wire DSG. The fourth-generation model will even offer a much more enhanced in-cabin experience with a layered dash, advanced digital instrumentation, drive assist, connectivity, comfort and safety features with Collision-Avoidance Assist, Exit Warning, Turn Assist, Ergo rear seat same like Octavia.

The new Skoda Superb is expected to make its market debut by the second quarter of 2023. The sedan is expected to be launched in India a year after its international debut.
