Royal Enfield Scrambler (Sherpa 650) Details
As visible in our previous detailed spy video and pics, the upcoming Sherpa will be a different breed in itself. Currently, the 650 platform of RE has Interceptor & Continental GT. However, a new Super Meteor 650 cruiser is going to be added to this list this month. Meanwhile, the Sherpa 650 will be a more nimble yet powerful bike. As we saw the test bike closely, it seems that RE is already nearing the production-ready stage of the Sherap. Additionally, there will be some interesting changes to the 650cc platform that the Sherpa will bring.
The first thing and major change that it will embed is the new exhaust system. The test bike we spied on last time had a two-in-one exhaust system. This means that the Sherpa will not have the twin silencers like the current 650s. However, this will make the bike lighter as well as agile. Additionally, Sherpa will possibly get spoked rims with AT tyres. Meanwhile, RE shall also do some changes to its chassis and suspension for tuning purposes.
However, its engine and other mechanicals will be the same as that of the current platform. Hence, the powerful & reliable 648cc, the parallel-twin engine will find its way on the Sherpa. This engine makes a peak power output of 47 bhp & 52 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, Sherpa will get a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch function.

Verdict
The RE Sherpa 650 will begin a new segment of middle-weight affordable scramblers in India; when launched. However, it looks like RE is currently focusing on the Super Meteor & its brand marketing. We all know that RE takes its sweet time of thorough testing before any product launch. Hence, we suspect that the Sherpa will debut in the second half of this year. Its price tag, however, will be around the Interceptor itself.
