Under the hood, Skoda Kushaq is gets two engine options - 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI. The former is the most popular one in the Indian market and caters to most buyers. This three-cylinder, turbocharged motor belts out a peak power and torque of 114 bhp and 178 Nm, respectively. This engine gets mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and a six-speed torque converter automatic as an option.
The 1.5L TSI is the most powerful motor in the segment. This four-cylinder, turbocharged stratified injection engine churns out 148 bhp of power with a peak torque of 250 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG as an option and gets a 6-speed stick shift as standard.
Feature-loaded
Skoda Kushaq is equipped with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, alloy wheels, an electric sunroof, cruise control, ventilated cooled front seats, automatic climate control, auto IRVM, rake and reach adjustment for the steering wheel, push-button start/stop and more.

MQB AO IN Platform
Skoda Kushaq is the first product that is based on the latest MQB AO IN platform. This ensures 95% localisation thus bringing the costs down by quite a margin. However, when you compare the prices of this SUV to rivals, the base variant is quite high.

Expensive product
Believe it or not, when compared to its closest rivals like Maruti Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq is the most expensive of the lot. The base variant is priced at Rs 11.29 lakh while the top model fetches till Rs 19.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Service reliability like aftersales
When compared to its rivals, there is always a doubt about the aftersales as well as the reliability of Skoda products. Furthermore, for the authorised service points, there is a bit of a hassle as the dealership network is less when compared to its rivals.

Verdict
If you are someone who is looking for a performance-oriented SUV that too under Rs 20 lakh then the Kushaq is for you. The 1.5L TSI is bonkers and offers a good match of performance as well as a good fuel economy. The latter is only when you drive with a light right foot. However, if mileage is your only concern and looking for an SUV that offers more features and has a wide area of service network then you can check other options like the Maruti Grand Vitara or even the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
