Upcoming Tata Altroz Racer: Unofficial Bookings Open At Rs. 21,000
Fortifying its place to challenge the Hyundai i20 N-Line, the Tata Altroz Racer is all set to launch in mid-June. Ahead of any official intimation about the price or bookings, dealerships across the country are taking unofficial bookings at a token amount of Rs. 21,000. While it stayed behind the curtains for a long time, by the looks of it, the package promises a strong future in the enthusiast circle. Not only this, Tata has dropped its first-ever teaser of the Altroz and also the exhaust sound. After listening to it, it has hyped up the anticipation even more.
Interior And Features
In addition to the sporty allure outside, the Altroz Racer aims to elevate the in-cabin experience. While it borrows some tech from the current model, it improves upon it further to offer an expected comprehensive tech list including features like wireless charging, a single-pane electric sunroof, fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, wireless smartphone connectivity, ventilated seats, heads-up display, dual-zone automatic climate control, TPMS, 6-airbags, and much more.

Tata Altroz Racer Engine Details: Dwarfs The iTurbo Figures!
The forthcoming Altroz Racer lives up to its name by delivering a power boost compared to its iTurbo counterpart. Enthusiasts can expect a choice between a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCA, sourced straight from the Nexon line-up. The transmission options will be paired to the 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit, anticipated to churn out 120hp power and a peak torque of 170 Nm. In contrast, the current gearbox options include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT paired with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill that puts out 110 PS and 140 Nm figures.
Expected Price & Rivals
While Tata ups the game of Altroz, there is a premium highly likely to be accompanying it as well. We expect this to start somewhere around Rs. 10 lakhs mark. It will take on the sportier Hyundai i20 N-Line, and even certain trims of the Maruti Fronx Boosterjet with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit.

Verdict
Looking at everything that comes with the Altroz Racer, it is poised to make a name for itself in the enthusiast circles as a respcetable memeber. While this niche segment does not have a lot of competitors, the market is slowly opening up to more and more buyers ready to trade off economy for the extra grunt. However, it will face a good enough rivalry from its iTurbo powerplant as well, for those running on a tighter budget.
