So much so that India, which is a developing country is adapting to the change and the government is introducing new schemes and benefits for the early EV adopters every now and then. We have everything from private EVs to commercial ones, and the list is only increasing. For the private market, we have budget EVs and the range extends to electric sports cars as well. In this article, our focus is to highlight the top 3 EVs of the Indian market that costs under Rs 20 lakh and all of these options are from Tata Motors.
Tata Tiago EV
The most affordable EV that your money can buy in the Indian market, Tiago EV is priced from as low as Rs 8.49 lakh. Its top model stretched up to Rs 11.79 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi. Powering the Tiago EV are two battery packs - 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh.

The former pumps out a peak power and torque of 60 bhp and 110 Nm, respectively. The 0-60 kmph sprint is achieved in 6.2 seconds and this is offered with a 3.3 kW wall box charger. The battery can be juiced up from 10% to 100% in just 5.1 hours. The driving range according to MIDC sticks to 250 km only.
The bigger and better 24 kWh battery pack pumps out 74 bhp of power with a peak torque of 114 Nm. This one gets two chargers - 3.3kW wall box for base trims and 7.2kW AC charger for higher trims. The former takes about 6.4 hours to fully charge the battery from 10% to 100% while the 7.2kW takes just 3.6 hours.
0-100 kmph spring is well achieved in just 5.7 seconds while both battery packs support fast charging. With the help of a DC fast charger, the batteries can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes.
Tata Tigor EV
Another affordable EV from Tata Motors, Tigor EV is priced from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 13.64 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Powered by a 26kWh battery pack, it belts out a peak power and torque of 74 bhp and 170 Nm. It gets an ARAI-certified range of 306 km. In other news, Tata is all set to introduce an updated Tigor EV with more features and we also expect an improved driving range with the same.
Tata Nexon EV
Now, Nexon EV is sold in two versions - Prime and Nexon EV Max. The former gets a 30.2 kWh battery pack that belts out a peak power and torque of 127 bhp and 245 Nm. Performance-wise, 0-100 kmph sprint is achieved in just 9.9 seconds and the certified driving range of this sticks to 312 km only. This model is priced from Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 17.50 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

On the other hand, the Nexon EV Max not only gets a bigger battery pack but also offers more driving range. The 40.5kWh battery pumps out 141 bhp of power with 250 Nm of peak torque. The ARAI certified driving range sticks to 437 km and it gets two chargers - 3.3kW for the lower-spec variants and a bigger and more powerful, 7.2kW AC for the top-spec variants. The Nexon EV Max is priced from Rs 18.34 lakh to Rs 20.04 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
