Maruti Suzuki WagonR is one of the most successful offerings by Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Having managed to win the hearts of a million people from over two decades now, every second home had or still has a WagonR. As per the reports, it has crowned itself as the best selling vehicle over the years from Maruti Suzuki's Arena portfolio on offer and every one in four WagonR owners replacing their existing ride with the new WagonR. It was popular for it's spacious interior and tall boy looks since its launch. We have seen multiple updates in terms of design language in this hatchback over the years and Maruti Suzuki has given it a mild upgrade with robust performance, higher fuel efficiency, cosmetic changes and enhanced convenience features.
Powertrain:
The hatchback is offered with two different engine options from their portfolio of advanced K-series engines in 1.0 Litre and 1.2 Litre displacement capacities, equipped with modern technologies which have lead to a significant bump of 16% in fuel efficiency in the 1.0 Litre engine and 19% increase in the 1.2 Litre engine. Out of the duo, the 1.0 Litre motor offers an optional factory fitted CNG powertrain in both LXI and VXI variants, and is also available in its Tour version for the passenger taxi segment, returning a decent fuel economy of 34.05 Km/kg. An automatic gearbox, AGS in Maruti Suzuki's Nomenclature, is available only in the top end petrol variants.
Exteriors and Interiors:
In terms of the overall silhouette, the tall boy has been updated with Dual tone exteriors which exhibit a sporty floating roof design. The wheel wells are well complimented by Dynamic alloy wheels. The dual tone exterior design option will be available in the ZXI+ variants in two new colour schemes named as Gallant Red and Magma Grey, both contrasted with a gloss Black roof. These design elements provide a modern appeal to the WagonR. On the inside, the interiors have been updated with the new dual tone effect with Beige and Dark Grey Melange fabric inserts which upgrade the cabins feel in terms of appearance.
Technology Updates:
The engine options on offer feature advanced technologies like Dual Jet and Dual Variable Valve Technology (VVT), Idle Start Stop Technology in petrol variants (ISS) and cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) which help to return superior fuel efficiency. To aid the driver's comfort and entertainment, the legendary tall boy boasts the 7 Inch Maruti Suzuki Smartplay Studio infotainment system with 4 speakers which supports seamless smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and connected car technologies with cloud-based services to provide a modern drive experience.
