The 2023 Auto Expo will see the world premiere of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door and Baleno-based crossover codenamed YTB. Based on some fresh media reports, it is highly likely that Maruti Suzuki will launch a new MPV based on the Toyota Innova Hycross in 2023. Maruti Suzuki New Innova Hycross-based MPV: All Details
The new Maruti Suzuki MPV will essentially be a counterpart of the Toyota Innova Hycross, much like the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder twins. It is likely that the new four-wheeler will be manufactured at Toyota's Bidadi-based manufacturing facility. Although the Maruti MPV will use the same set of powertrain and underpinnings as the Hycross, there will be subtle design changes here and there. We expect the Maruti MPV to come loaded with all the bells and whistles such as a 10.1-inch infotainment system, electronically adjustable driver seat with memory function, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof and more. The second product will be the much-awaited Jimny 5 door. The lifestyle vehicle will be pitched against the Mahindra Thar and will likely be launched around August 2023.
The Baleno crossover will use the same underpinnings as the Baleno, while the engine duties will likely be done by the 1.0-litre BoosterJet unit. The Jimny 5 door will use the 1.5-litre K15C engine mated to the Suzuki AllGrip Pro 4 WD system. Maruti could likely offer a mild hybrid system with the Jimny SUV.
