Toyota introduced the Rumion MPV in India in late August 2023, setting its price point at Rs. 10.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The Rumion enters the Indian market to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6, and the Kia Carens. It's available in three different variants: S, G, and the range-topping V. Following its official launch, the G variant of this seven-seater MPV has begun to roll into dealerships nationwide.
Let's take a closer look at what you can expect from this variant.

The G variant of the Rumion, as depicted in the image, showcases an elegant Rustic Brown exterior finish. Its front fascia features a sizeable grille with chrome accents, halogen projector headlamps, and integrated turn indicators on the outside rearview mirrors. Additionally, the vehicle boasts 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a rear wiper with washer, LED taillamps, chrome door handles, and a rear defogger, among other exterior highlights.
Since it is a rebadged Maruti Ertiga, the front, and rear profiles are exactly the same with some minor Toyota-specific tweaks for a distinct identity. These elements are the brand logo, a different grille design, and an all-new alloy wheel design.
Interior
The G variant of this MPV offers a rich set of features, including a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless mobile connectivity and Arkamys Surround Sense. It also sports a dual-tone interior theme, a sliding armrest with a utility box for the front row, and dual-tone seat upholstery. Furthermore, it includes amenities like a push start/stop button, keyless entry, second-row roof-mounted AC vents with three-stage speed control, and automatic climate control, enhancing the overall comfort and convenience of the vehicle.
It is interesting to note that all the shared vehicles between the Maruti and Toyota share the exact same features list except for just one exception. It is the Maruti Invicto which is a rebadged Toyota Innova Hycross and misses out on some feature loadings
Toyota Rumion: Powertrain
Talking about the engine, it gets only a petrol option since Maruti laid the diesel engines to rest back in 2020. The G variant of the Rumion is equipped with a BS6 Phase 2-compliant 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 102 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque. This engine is exclusively mated to a five-speed manual transmission and boasts an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency rating of 20.51 kmpl, making it both powerful and fuel-efficient.
Verdict
The Toyota Rumion G variant presents a compelling package for those seeking a practical and well-equipped seven-seater MPV. With a spacious interior, a range of features including a touchscreen infotainment system and keyless entry, and an efficient BS6-compliant petrol engine, the Rumion G offers a balanced blend of comfort and performance, making it a noteworthy contender in its segment.
