1. Exterior Updates: A Refreshing Touch
While on a macro level, Toyota Taisor is the same Maruti Fronx with the same dimensions and sheet metal, there are certain Toyota-specific tweaks for an easy distinction. The obvious is a Toyota logo on the redesigned honeycomb grill, along with refreshed LED DRLs. It also gets a retweaked bumper and newly chiseled 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. which ultimately provides a fresh appeal to the Taisor, all the while making it a little different than the Maruti twin.
2. Features List: The Usual Same
The Taisor brings in a fresh upholstery with a Toyota badging on the steering wheel and that's where the distinctions cease. It gets the same feature list copied and pasted from the Fronx with features like, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera, 9-inch infotainment screen, semi-digital instrument cluster, HUD, wireless charger, and more.
3. Mechanicals Retained
In terms of the engine options, it is still the same vehicle. You get the same 1.2 litre petrol unit that churns out 88bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque. The other option is the same 1.0 litre turbo petrol that is more potent at 99bhp and a max torque of 148 Nm. The gearbox options include a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT for the NA petrol unit whereas the turbo petrol offers either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
4. Pricing: Pays A Premium
The price of the Toyota Taisor starts at Rs. 7.73 lakhs and tops out at Rs. 13.03 lakhs ex-showroom. Interstingly, it commands a premium of around Rs. 25,000 in the NA petrol variants when compared to Maruti Fronx whereas this gap flattens sharply with the 1.0 litre turbo petrol variants at a difference of around just Rs. 1,000.

5. Rivals: Apart From The Obvious
Toyota Taisor being a descendant of the Maruti Fronx, will unwillingly is its arch rival. But moving past that obvious awkwardness, it faces stiff rivalry from the likes of Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, and other compact SUVs.
Bonus Highlight
Apart from all the things said and done, the Toyota Taisor is now also the most affordable SUV under the Toyota portfolio. While it may be the most affordable "SUV" from the brand, the Toyota Glanza is still the most affordable product from the house of Toyota Bharat, which is a premium hatchback.
Verdict
Toyota Maruti partnership is doing quite well for both the giant automakers. While Toyota had a chance to foray into a more affordable segment, Maruti toyed with the idea of a full size MPV whhich also happens to be the most expensive Maruti ever. However, Taisor look a promising product and is expected to bring in alot more cusrtomers than any other rebranded model between the two.
