- Toyota Urban Cruiser was rebadged variant of the pre-facelift Brezza
- The Urban Cruiser is no longer available on the brand's website
- A 2022 Brezza-based Urban Cruiser variant is possible
In India, Toyota recently debuted the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Now, the regular Urban Cruiser is removed from the brand's website shortly after the Hyryder is introduced. After the strategic alliance between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was rebadged as the Urban Cruiser. Since the Urban Cruiser's pre-facelift has been delisted, we can expect a new model based on the Brezza's facelift, which made its debut earlier this year.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Discontinued?
The Toyota Urban Cruiser is no longer listed on the company's website, which suggests that the Urban Cruiser may no longer be sold in India. It's possible that the company is developing a new sub-4 metre SUV for the Indian market. Last month, the Urban Cruiser had zero sales, and the month before that had extremely low sales. This discontinuation could be either temporary or permanent.
If we're talking about the Urban Cruiser facelift based on the Brezza, it may have a new name. The Hyryder already uses the Urban Cruiser brand name, so the Japanese company might not want to utilise it for another car. Toyota recently registered the Taisor as a trademark. The future Toyota SUV in India, which is based on the Brezza, may be known as the Taisor.
The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza has a host of new features and a fresh design language. The list of features also includes an electric sunroof, an Arkamys-tuned sound system, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, and more. The Brezza-based Taisor could have the same features if it is the next-generation of Urban Cruiser SUV.
Verdict: The company has not provided any information either on the Taisor or the discontinuation of the Urban Cruiser. The Taisor can be a viable choice for the company to gain market share in the sub-4 metre SUV segment.
