Hyundai Creta is one of the most popular mid-size SUVs in its segment that packs in multiple engines and gearbox options, features, safety equipment and other things. However, with changing times, several carmakers are entering the mid-size SUV segment and bringing in their product. One such carmaker, Maruti Suzuki too will be bringing its Creta rival that will not only be rich in features and safety equipment but will offer Suzuki All Grip AWD. Yes, after the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti's new Grand Vitara SUV will be the second one in this segment to offer AWD as an option.
Mechanically, the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated DualJet petrol motor. This will be the same K15C petrol motor that is seen on the new Ertiga, XL6 and the upcoming S-Cross that will be launched early next year.
This petrol motor belts out 102 bhp of power with a peak torque of 136.8 Nm. It gets mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a six-speed torque converter as an option. However, considering the Hyundai Creta, this will be the flagship product from the Indian carmaker, we believe that they might bring in the 1.5L petrol motor with a strong hybrid.

The more powerful hybrid motor churns out 113 bhp of power and this engine is mated to an e-CVT. Internationally, this motor is seen in the Vitara Hybrid. There will not be any diesel engine on offer but we do expect a higher ARAI certified fuel economy for both the engines.
Feature-wise, we do expect a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Considering, the Grand Vitara will rival Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos then we do expect a sunroof, dual-tone interior colour scheme, all-LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, powered driver's seat and more.

We can expect 6 airbags, electronic stability control, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, front parking sensors, tyre-pressure monitoring system, and a 360-degree camera as some of the safety features in the Maruti's upcoming SUV. Other safety equipment includes rear parking sensors, dual-airbags as standard, a high-speed alert system, front seat-belt reminder, ISOFIX child seat mounts and more.
We believe the Maruti Grand Vitara SUV to be priced between Rs 11 lakh to Rs 16 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi once it is launched in the Indian market. Once launched, it will rival MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder and Mahindra Scorpio.
