Volkswagen has just launched the affordable version of the Polo TSI at Rs 7.41 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. For the metallic colour shades, you have to shell out Rs 7.51 lakh. This affordable 1.0L TSI version is based on the Comfortline variant.
Earlier the 1.0L TSI was available only with the top-spec Highline Plus and GT line variant but now with this recent step, Volkswagen will cater to a wider target. Do note that this engine is offered in 6-speed manual transmission for the Comfortline variant.
Sharing the specs of this 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit then it generates as much as 110 PS of power with a peak torque of 175 Nm. This engine also gets a 6-speed torque converter unit but a manual is the fun one to drive. We also did a fuel economy run with the manual one and got 30 kmpl on the highway.

Earlier to own a Polo with a 1.0L TSI motor one had to shell out Rs 8.48 lakh but now the same can be had in just a lakh cheaper. The Comfortline surely loses out on some features like automatic climate control, rear AC vents, electronic anti-glare mirror, cruise control, 12V power outlet, driver armrest, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob.
Other features like cup holders, all touch-up and down power windows, retractable ORVMs, passive cornering lights and a touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is surely missed. It looks like Volkswagen just launched the Comfortline variant for the sake of it and to see how many buyers pick this one over the top-spec.
