VW Virtus Variant Details Out - Here's What The Honda City Rival Packs

VW is all set to launch their upcoming sedan, Virtus soon on June 9. Ahead of its launch, the variant wise details of the VW Virtus are now out. This sedan will be offered in four trims and with two engine options. We share with you everything we know about this sedan till now.

The variant details of the VW Virtus are as follows -

The smaller, 1.0L TSI motor will be seen in the comfortline, highlight and topline trims whereas the bigger and more powerful, 1.5L TSI will be limited to the GT variant only. Both the VW Taigun and Virtus share the same engine options.

The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor churns out as much as 114 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 178 Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and also gets a six-speed torque converter automatic as an option. The AT unit will be seen in the Highline and Topline variants of the Virtus.

The 1.5-litre, turbocharged stratified injection motor pumps out 148 bhp of power with a maximum torque of 250 Nm. Unlike the Skoda Slavia (sibling rival) that also gets a six-speed stick shift with the bigger motor, the Virtus is only available with a 7-speed DSG unit.

Feature-wise, the Virtus is equipped with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control and more.

Safety equipment on the VW Virtus includes as many as six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, front seat-belt reminder, a high-speed alert system, ISOFIX child-seat mount, traction control, hill-hold control and more.

Once launched the Virtus will compete with fifth-gen Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Slavia. We expect the prices to stick between Rs 11 lakh to Rs 18.69 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
