Both Kia and MG have an SUV-only portfolio for India, which makes them quite appealing. And with good appeal comes lots of demand, and that causes a long waiting period.
Kia India portfolio currently includes the Seltos, Sonet, Caravan, and the recently unveiled MPV, the Carens. Their prices range starts from Rs. 6.90 lakh for the Sonet, and it goes all the way up to Rs. 34.49 lakh with the Carnival. Both the Seltos and Sonet, have been raking in healthy sales numbers as well. And in the future, Kia is also slated to launch its sedans, like the Stinger for example.

MG Motors, on the other hand, have a familiar SUV heavy line-up as well. This includes the Hector, Astor, Gloster and Hector Plus, and their only electric car, the ZS EV. Prices range from Rs. 9.98 lakh with the Astor and goes all the way up to Rs. 38.99 lakh with the big, hunky-dory Gloster.

Kia Sonet (Waiting Period - 3 months- 6 months)
Price - Rs. 6.95 lakh to Rs. 13.69 lakh
The Kia Sonet is available in 29 different versions, with both petrol and diesel engine options, and a turbo engine option as well. It can be had with both manual and automatic transmission, but with just front-wheel-drive configuration. This compact SUV comes loaded with features, like ABS, Central Locking, EBD, Glove box cooling, front row adjustable headrest, etc. The Sonet competes against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
Kia Seltos (Waiting Period - 2 months 4 months)
Price - Rs. 9.95 lakhs Rs. 18.19 lakhs)
The Seltos is available in 18 variants with 13 exterior color options. Its petrol variants are priced between Rs 9.95 lakh Rs. 17.89 lakh; and the diesel variant is priced between Rs. 10.75 lakh to Rs. 18.19 lakh. Like the Sonet, the Seltos also comes with three engine options 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-liter turbo petrol, and the 1.5-litre diesel unit. All engines get the benefit of either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed iMT, CVT, 6-speed automatic or a 7-speed DCT. Aside from these mouthfuls of configuration options, the Seltos is filled to the brim with features. Kia pits the Seltos against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Tata Harriers, Skoda Kushaq, or the Volkswagen Taigun.

Kia Carens ( Yet to Launch)
Expected Price - Rs. 14.00 lakh to Rs. 18 lakh
The recently unveiled Kia Carens is based on the same platform as the Kia Seltos. If looked at from the side, the Carens also have a similar front nose silhouette. The Carens have quite the unusual SUV-ish stance from the front while packing in the practicality of a family-haulier very comfortably and intelligently. The Carens competes against the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, MG Hector Plus, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
MG Astor (Waiting Period 2 Months to 3 Months)
Price - Rs. 9.98 lakhs Rs. 17.72 lakhs
The MG Astor is the first SUV in its segment that gets Artificial Intelligence. Its waiting period has significantly reduced in most metro cities, but its Style variant still has a high waiting period due to limited production. Speaking of which, the Astor is available in 12 variants with two powertrain options, with 5 exterior paint options. It competes against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kusahaq, and VW Taigun. MG Hector (Waiting Period 2 Months)
Price Rs. 13.94 lakhs Rs. 19.90 lakhs
MG debuted in India with the five-seater Hector. Not only is this SUV big, but it also packs in quite the ornamental appeal with its exterior design. Whether its the front fascia with the chrome grille and flanked by the LED DRL eyebrow on both sides, the Hector, no doubt is quite the looker. It is available with two powertrain options - a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine, and the 2.0-litre diesel engine. The former also comes with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that is good for around 32km-35 km. On the other hand, the Hector is also one of those few vehicles that get a four-wheel drive option as well. It competes against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and the Tata Harrier.
MG Gloster (Waiting Period 2 months )
Price Rs. 30.99 lakhs Rs. 38.99 lakhs
The MG Gloster is the most expensive car in MGs line-up. It is offered in four variants - Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy. All four can be had with either a 6-seater configuration with captain seats for the middle row or a 7-seater configuration. The former gets a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine as an option, whereas, the latter gets a twin-turbo 2.0-litre diesel engine. The Gloster might not be as popular as the Hector or Astor, but it has had a silent presence in Kias line-up.

MG ZS EV (Waiting Period 1 Month waiting)
Price Rs. 21.49 lakh Rs. 25.18 lakh
MG is expected to launch the 2022 ZS EV with a tweaked exterior design, and larger batteries. The 2022 ZS EV will also feature Astors Advanced Driver Assist System, which will provide features like forwarding collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and high-beam assist. It will be powered by a bigger 51 kWh battery pack that is paired to a 143 Ps motor, that has a WLTP claimed range of 419 km. The ZS EV competes against the Tata Nexon EV, and the Hyundai Kona electric the only two electric SUVs in the line-up.
MG Hector Plus (Waiting Period 2 months 4 months)
Price Rs. 15.94 lakhs Rs. 20.49 lakhs
MG recently hiked the price of the Hector Plus by Rs. 15,000, and the automatic variants of the same have longer waiting periods than other trims. It is available in 12 variants, with petrol and diesel engine options. Some of the standout features in the Hector include a swipe-to-open tailgate, a 10.4-inch touch screen infotainment system that supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting. The Hector Plus competes against the likes of the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 700 and the Toyota Innova Crysta.
