If there's one car that every Indian citizen knows of then it is the Maruti Swift. And in its 2021 avatar, Maruti has updated the Swift with new features, styling and well, a big mechanical change. So in this pros and cons of the 2021 Maruti Swift, we present our points as if you should go for it or not!
Pros
An Updated Engine
Well, it is not a new engine but rather an updated one. This 1.2L DualJet has two injectors instead of one and now generates 90 PS of power which is 7 PS more than before. This updated Swift comes with similar torque of 113 Nm as before and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional AMT unit.

Features
The new Swift rivals Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago. With this update, it comes with a lot of features that were missing before. Like the cruise control which is a first in the segment. It also adds the coloured MID, push-button start/stop and other features.
Better Handling Response
There is no doubt that the Swift has been the best handler than others. When you are doing triple digits then Swift gives you the confidence and the steering wheel feels better. For the city purpose, it is mild in nature when parking in tight spaces and more.
Better Looking Than Other Cars
Maruti knows how to style their car right and Swift is one such car that always looks great with every generation. The latest one is loved by the modifiers as it can be easily tuned plus you can give it all the ricer look you want to.
Improved Fuel Economy
The Kitna Deti Hai factor is always loved by the Indian market and in this Maruti has played it safe since the manual variant of the Swift delivers 23.20 kmpl while the AMT version delivers 23.76 kmpl. In our mileage test in the city with AC ON and two people on board, it impressed us with 25 kmpl.

Cons
Safety Rating
The Swift is equipped with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt warning, the high-speed alert system as standard across all the variants, however, the body shell of the car is not as strong as its rivals. The Swift scored a mere 2-star at the Global NCAP rating so this is some issue that can be an issue for some buyers.
No Rear AC Vents
It is a much-needed feature for the people living in the north. Or well, the rear AC vents works at any temperature. It cools the cabin easily and keeps the second-row passengers cooled down when the temperature soars as high as 50 degrees.
No driver armrest
In today's time, an armrest is a basic feature that keeps the driver at ease when he/she is driving long distances on the highway. You can get it installed from the aftermarket too but the fact that even the top model misses out on this basic feature is a matter of concern.
