This year is entitled to some amazing car launches and the most exciting ones are launches from the house of Volkswagen and Skoda. In an interview, Zac Hollis stated that the next generation of the much loved Octavia will be launched in early 2021 in India. Now for the first time, the 2021 Skoda Octavia has been spied on Pune roads. It will get the 2.0-litre TSI petrol carried from Kodiaq petrol and Superb.
Skoda unveiled the next generation of the Octavia in the global markets last year and finally, it is paving its way to the Indian market. The new generation of the Octavia sits on the updated MQB platform and it has grown in dimensions - 19mm in length and 15mm in width. Talking about the exteriors, the front profile now ditches the split headlights set up for the conventional LED headlights. The model seen here is not assumed to be the top-spec trim as it lacks the full LED headlights. However, it is still unknown whether Skoda will give the LED headlights set up in India or not.

The headlights now merge with the grille and the lower part of the bumper gets LED fog lights. The side profile of the spied Octavia gets 17-inch plain alloy wheels and the image hints that the ride height has been increased for the Indian market. The overall side profile is plain and gets chrome lining on the window surrounds. The rear profile of the new Octavia is updated and gets inverted LED taillights. The spied image also reveals the Sportback type boot opening.
Moving to the interiors of the 2021 Skoda Octavia, which are not visible in the spied images, will get black and beige interiors. Talking about the global spec model, that gets free-standing 10-inch touchscreen infotainment with an in-car personal assistant named 'Laura'. Moreover, the global Octavia is loaded with features like a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit, three-zone climate control, two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting, shift-by-wire technology, gesture control etc. We expect a similar dashboard design and features in the Indian model as well.

Talking about the engine options, the global spec Octavia comes with petrol, diesel hybrid and CNG powertrain options. In India, the Octavia range will kickstart with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG box. The lower trims are also expected to get 1.5-litre TSI engine mated to 6-speed manual gearbox, which we will also get in upcoming VW's and Skoda's mid-size SUVs. The price of the Skoda Octavia may start from Rs 20 lakh and go to Rs 25 Lakh ex-showroom. The Octavia was expected to launch later this year but thanks to the pandemic, the launch is pushed to early 2021. It will rival the Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.
