Toyota Fortuner is one of the most loved full-size SUVs in India. It was first launched in India in the year 2009. Within a decade, it became the best-selling SUV in its class and was appreciated by all. Then came the second-gen Fortuner in 2016 and its sheer hulking presence won it plenty of admirers. The Fortuner is a True SUV in real-sense and it has become synonymous with the rich and the powerful. Just a few weeks ago, Toyota unveiled the new Fortuner Facelift in Thailand. Now, the new 2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift has been spied on test in India for the first time.
The new Toyota Fortuner Facelift gets a bunch of cosmetic updates over its predecessor. It also gets new features and a more powerful diesel engine. Talking about the spied test mule, so the new Fortuner Facelift was spotted on test in the National Capital Region of India. The changes are quite evident in the new model and it wasn't wearing any camouflage. However, the test mule was carrying an emission testing kit and the Fortuner moniker embossed on the rear profile was hidden with the help of gaffer tape.
Talking about the design changes, so as you can see in the images that the new Fortuner Facelift gets a revised front fascia. Upfront, it gets a new sharp-looking profile with revised bumpers and a new blacked-out large mesh-pattern grille. It also gets new sharper all-LED headlights with projector set-up and integrated LED DRLs. The fog lamp assembly of the SUV has also been revised and it gets new honeycomb pattern. Beneath the foglamps are horizontal LED strip which also doubles up as turn indicators.

The side profile is almost the same as before but it gets new 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, it gets a revised bumper and slimmer LED taillights. The interior of the new Fortuner Facelift has not been spied yet but it is expected to get new features. It will get a new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The new Fortuner Facelift might also get a 360-degree parking camera, ambient lighting, wireless charger and 9-speaker JBL audio system.
Talking about the powertrain, so the India spec Fortuner will get 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.8-litre diesel engine. Currently, the 2.8-litre diesel engine produces 177 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque (450 Nm in AT). The updated model in Thailand churns out 204 PS of power and a whopping 500 Nm of torque. The same power bump we expect in the India-spec model too. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will also get a 2.7-litre petrol engine that churns out 166 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed AT.

Lastly, talking about price and India availability, so the new 2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift has just been spied in India. Earlier, it was expected to make its way to India in early 2021. However, the recent spy images hint that it might be launched very soon, most likely by the festive season of 2020. Currently, the Toyota Fortuner BS6 is priced between Rs. 28.66 lakhs - Rs. 30.25 lakhs for the petrol model while the diesel variants are priced between Rs. 30.67 lakhs - Rs. 34.43 lakhs.
