Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to release a number of updated vehicles across its line-up, which will be available in the Indian market later this year. One of these vehicles is the Baleno, India's most popular premium hatchback. According to a recent update, Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat plant has already commenced production of the 2022 Baleno facelift. The first batch of new Baleno was rolled out from the factory on 24 January 2022 and is expected to be unveiled towards February end.
2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: Exterior
The exterior design of the forthcoming Baleno facelift premium hatchback will undergo significant changes. According to previously released pictures, the new Baleno's body panels have all been redone. The new automobile appears to have a wider front end than its predecessor. When viewed from the sides, the new Baleno looks very identical to the previous model, however, the front and back fenders have been altered to accommodate new-look headlamps, taillights, and new alloy wheels. The 2022 Baleno facelift gets a revised bumper and tailgate design, as well as new L-shaped tail lamps that now extend all the way to the tailgate.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Interior Changes
Along with the revamped exterior, the interiors of the vehicle are also expected to get some new updates. The interior updates are expected to feature horizontally-positioned AC vents, flat-bottom steering wheel, free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, etc. A new instrument console could also be on the table.
On the highest variants, the new 2022 Baleno facelift will have up to six airbags, including driver and passenger airbags, as well as front and rear curtain bags. The higher-end variant of the new Baleno may also include features like the Electronic Stability Program (ESP).
2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift: Engine
The new Baleno is expected to be powered by the same powertrain options that are being offered with the current iterations of the car. These include a 1.2-L NA petrol and 1.2-L 12V mild-hybrid petrol engine that produces 83hp and 90hp respectively. These engines are offered with a standard 5-speed manual gearbox while an optional CVT transmission is also offered with the 1.2-L NA engine. Having said this, the upcoming Baleno is rumoured to be available with CNG and full-hybrid powertrain options.

Just like before, the 2022 Baleno facelift will be sold via Marutis Nexa dealerships available across the country. The 2022 Baleno will lock horns with Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz.
