Not a long time back we did the exclusive story where the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 was spied on a test run. The new car was draped in a complete camouflaged but it does give us the idea of what Maruti's new design will look like. The entire outlook is bigger in size & dimensions as compared to the current Alto. The new car is expected to cater the buyers that look for budget entry-level micro-SUVs like the Maruti S-Presso. New Alto will be taller, wider, and longer to accommodate more space. Maruti has designed the new car over its proven Heartect platform which is seen in the Maruti Dzire, Wagon-R, Swift, & Baleno as well.
Maruti will also be equipping the new Alto with the latest-gen features such as LED DRLs, LED taillights, semi-digital instrument panel with MID, touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, etc. Apart from this, the new car shall also feature more interior space; as Maruti might revamp the interiors as well. A dual-tone interior design is also what we expect in the new Maruti Alto.

In terms of growing market demands, Maruti shall rework the engine & specs of the car. The ultra-reliable 796cc engine which produces peak power of 47 hp & 69 Nm of peak torque is likely to be enhanced. The same engine will be carried forward but with tweaks to increase the economy as well as throttle response. Maruti might also consider the 1.0-Lt, 10C motor which was recently featured in the new Maruti Celerio. This shall be made available over the top variants of the new-gen Alto. The CNG bi-fuel option will continue selling with the new generation car as well.
With a production trial to begin next month, the new car is expected to launch sometime around July/August 2022. The pricing will be higher than the current model due to the reworked body and features. Rivals will include the Renault Kwid & Hyundai Santro.
