So, what can we expect from this newest iteration of the MT-15? Well, as per the anticipation in the automotive world; the new MT-15 will host a lot of changes from cosmetic to mechanical upgrades as well. Design-wise, the new MT-15 will feature styling cues from the bigger MT-03 which is sold internationally. This means that the front will attain the same alien-head design with projector headlight and LED DRLs embedded in it. Apart from this, we expect that there will be a few graphic updates overall.
What's more interesting is that the new MT-15 will now come equipped with front upside-down forks for better structural rigidity and chassis stability. Alongside will embark the entrance of an all-new R15 V4 sourced digital instrument console. This also means that Bluetooth connectivity like the faired version will also be provided in the new-gen bike. Dual-channel ABS will also be another addition to the facelifted motorcycle. While we were anticipating that Yamaha might provide the quick-shifter and traction control; cost reduction remains the major role player and these techs might not make it with the launch of the updated motorcycle.
Technically, the new version of MT-15 will continue using the same 155cc, SOHC, VVA-equipped engine which produces a peak power of 18.24 hp and peak torque of 14.2 Nm. This power will be mated to the rear tyre hub via the use of a 6-speed transmission which comes along a slip-assist clutch function as well.
Yes, with confirmed 4 colour options - White, Grey, Metallic Black, and Racing Blue; the new MT-15 will be INR 10,000 costlier than the previous model which was priced at INR 1.47 Lakhs. Once launched, the V2 MT-15 will directly rival the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 V4 and the KTM 125 Duke naked sports bikes.
