Bajaj CT 150X Details: Design, Engine, Specs
Visible in the spy shot, this unidentified test mule looks similar to the CT 125X to some extent. While it is heavily camouflaged, the front profile is fitted with a round headlight, a raised handlebar with a crossbar, knuckle guards, a fork gaiter kit, etc. All of these are also offered on the CT 125X bike. Hence, the speculations of this being the same platform or same nomenclature bike are more. Moreover, the wheel size and the front disc size also appear to be the same. What's different is the overall width and shape of the bike. It is more chunky and beefed-up to look at. Additionally, the integrated engine crash guard, saree guard, & footrests also indicate a CT series bike.
Now, the most important thing to notice is the size of the engine. It has fins for air cooling which means it won't be a liquid-cooled unit. Therefore, the 150cc engine sounds a nice fit for this proportion of a bike. While the Pulsar N150 & the Pulsar 150 are already present in this segment, a CT would make more sense for tier-3 buyers. Perhaps, the exploration of this segment by Bajaj will create opportunities for other OEMs as well; if it is so. We anticipate that if it is a CT 150X, it'll be powered by the same engine as the N150. But, it'll be obviously re-tuned for the dimensional & design changes.
Verdict
With slim to no details available & only a single spy shot to speculate, we still find the idea of a CT 150X nice. It's a rugged platform and the smaller CT 110X & 125X have already establised their name in rugged commuter bikes. A more powerful CT will satisfy the need of better performance as well as upgraded looks for buyers. However, we think that there's a long time until this bike hits the road. Probably by the end of 2024 we might witness the debut of this upcoming model.
