How To Read the Diplomatic Number Plate?
- The first two numbers are unique to every country with its embassy in India. Here the number 52 means that the country is the Netherlands.
- The middle part of the number plate indicates the type of establishment the vehicle belongs to.
- CD- Registered to an Embassy
- CC - Registered to a Consulate
- UN- Registered to the United Nations
- The final part of the number plate can be any number ranging from 1 to 9999 and is Unique to every vehicle.
What Is Diplomatic Immunity?
First and foremost, Diplomatic Immunity essentially grants protection to the diplomat from local laws and regulations. Diplomatic immunity is only applicable to the owner of the car. The immunity is not applicable when the car is being driven by a non-diplomat or chauffeur. In case of a car accident, the diplomat can claim diplomatic immunity. Afterwards, Diplomats will be punished in his/her own country for any misconduct or law violation that is proved against them by the host country. For Example -If an American Driver has accidentally crashed his vehicle, he/she will be taken to the embassy by the local police. Whereupon, If found guilty of the crime the accused will serve punishment in America Accordingly. If however because of the diplomat's negligence, a loss of life has occurred then the local court can file a request to revoke diplomatic immunity.
