As per the reports published over the internet, BYD Motors is considering the Atto 3 EV for India. The Atto 3 is a mid-size premium electric SUV. Going by the reports, the upcoming car will land here as a CBU model. This means the pricing will remain towards the north of Rs 30 Lakhs. Currently, BYD E6 electric car is the only passenger vehicle that is on sale in India. Apparantely, BYD also sells products in the electric commercial segment here in India.
Meanwhile the Atto is a beautifully designed EV. Embracing the signature BYD styling, the design flow is simply bold & beautiful. The front fascia beholds fluent LED headlights with a slim grille & large air dams for more aero support. The side profile subsequently uses the same bold body line stretched to the rear end. Alloy wheels are multi-spoke as well as diamond-cut shaped. The rear design is also simple & minimalistic. The upright set boot lid embeds a LED light bar running between the rear LED taillights.

BYD Motors patented a tech called 'Blade Battery Technology'. This tech is a more safe & more efficient battery-motor combination as compared to the regular tech used by other EV makers. The Atto 3 will be using this technology, hence, more safety is guaranteed. BYD sells the Atto globally with a choice of two battery packs 49.92kWh and 60.48kWh with a WLTP range of 320km and 420km respectively. We assess the Atto will be offered in both the options whenever launched.
Feature list is also quite promising. The 12.8-inch infotainment system, dual-tone interiors, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, ADAS, adaptive cruise control, & many as such features are packed in the car. Globally, the car comes with the 18-inch alloy wheels. The Indian version probably will have high profile tyres to tackle the bad roads.
Upon launch, the new EV is going to compete with Hyundai Kona, MG ZS EV, & Tata Nexon EV Max.
