Citroen launched C5 Aircross earlier this year. Now, the company is getting ready to launch their entry-level, made-in-India small SUV the Citroen C3. The new model will be a mini SUV for India and is expected to look similar to the C3 SUV from Europe. That said, it could have different dimensions. The upcoming model will make its global debut later today and has already been teased recently.

Citroen confirmed that it would design the SUV on an India-specific platform and not on C3s original platform. This platform is versatile for varying body types compact SUV, hatchback, or sedan, and can accomodate a variety of engines, ranging from ICE units to electric and hybrid mills.
Citroen is known to offer unconventional designs with its cars. The Indian product would not be any different. The teaser gives us a glimpse of the front design and it looks quite similar to what we saw on the leaked prototype. It gets a distinctive front fascia sporting a chrome-plated front grille and split headlamps.
Inside the cabin, the Citroen C3 has a multi-functional three-spoke steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, and automatic AC control. It also comes equipped with a push start/stop button, powered ORVMs, reverse camera, rear AC vents, and cruise control.
Citroen has not yet revealed the powertrain options that will be offered. Speculations suggest that India-spec C3 will be available with three engine options, including a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 83 hp of power, and a turbocharged variant that would churn out 110 hp.
Also, the new model will become the first car in India to support flex-fuel. There is a possibility that Citroen might offer a 1.5-litre diesel engine as well. The upcoming SUV will come equipped with a manual transmission as standard and an optional automatic gearbox.
