After starting its innings with the rather steeply-priced C5 Aircross earlier this year, Groupe PSA has today unveiled the made-for-India Citroen C3 compact SUV that will go on to target young car buyers of our market. The new model, which will be positioned in a mainstream car segment, will even sell in the Latin American markets. Taking a top-down approach similar to Jeep, Citroen will now target the volumes in the crossover space with its new offering.
Measuring less than 4-metre in length, the Citroen C3, in the words of the French carmaker, will be 'attractive and affordable' for most of the buyers, many of which will be first-time car buyers. Moreover, the manufacturer is confident that the SUV-inspired styling, the feature-laden cabin and as many as 78 customization options will appeal to the young audience. It must be noted here that the median age of an India is slated to settle around 25 years in the next four years and its exactly the young and the energetic that the C3 is targeted at.

The Citroen C3 will be produced at the carmakers Tamil Nadu-based production facility and our guess is that it will be pitted against models like the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. Of course, as is the case with every Citroen, the C3 offers a striking design. In fact, its easy to draw a connection between the aesthetics of the new model and the much costlier C5 Aircross. The front-end features a similar curvaceous face with the traditional double chevron being an integral part of the upper grille. Moving forward, youll notice the near-flat bonnet and the steeply raked windshield. Meanwhile, the roofline is slightly sloping towards the rear-end, which dials some dynamism into the overall silhouette.
Citroen C3 will also offer dual-tone paint options including orange roof, blacked-out pillars and several orange accents strewn around the bodyshell. Meanwhile, all the body cladding along with front and rear skid plates infuse some ruggedness. It is worth mentioning here that the C3 will be launched here in accordance with the carmakers C-Cubed programme for the Indian market. The new model will be underpinned by the carmakers

Common Modular Platform (CMP). Engine options are yet to be revealed but they will likely include 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol motors in both naturally-aspirated and turbocharged guises. Speaking on the unveiling of the Citroen C3, Saurabh Vatsa, Citro뮠Brand Head, India, has said The C3 is being introduced in a B-segment, which is highly competitive in India but has the potential to expand and grow further. It was important for us to stand out in this segment and create a differentiated and aspirational car. This segment is seeing a lot of young buyers who want a sub-4 metre car, which is an extension of their personality. The C3 is positioned in that sweet spot and will appeal to the young generation of customers in India, who are looking for differentiated experiences. The C3 will appeal to car buyers who want the best in their life, in a balanced way, who like to enjoy life while following new styles and fashions. These customers are fashionable, innovative and want their car to reflect their personality. This is where our customization strategy will play a big role making a fashion statement to attract people who like to be stylish.
