Last month, Kia India debuted its fourth vehicle in India, and it is currently one of the most affordable and feature-rich MPV in the country. In the market, the Kia Carens compete with the Hyundai Alcazar. Both these cars share a lot of similarities be it the platform on which the Carens and Alcazar are built, as well as the number of features available on-board. We've compared the two cars based on their specs and characteristics, but let's have a look at a drag race of the Hyundai Alcazar vs Kia Carens this time. Ayush SSM, a Youtuber, just shared a video of a drag race between a Hyundai Alcazar and a Kia Carens on his channel.
As shown in the video, the Youtuber drives the Carens in the first round, while his companion drives the Hyundai Alcazar. Carens got a good initial pick-up and maintained it for the duration of the drag.
The YouTuber then switched vehicles and drove the Alcazar, which the Carens defeated again because of a lack of initial pull. Similarly, the Kia Carens comfortably won the drag race against the Hyundai Alcazar in the third round.
Mechanically, the Carens come with three engine options- a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with 113.4 bhp and 144 Nm of torque, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine with 138 bhp power and 242 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 113.4 bhp power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The engines are coupled to various gearbox options, including a six-speed manual on the 1.5-litre petrol, a six-speed manual and torque converter AT unit on the 1.5-litre diesel, and a six-speed manual and 7-speed DCT unit on the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol.
