Hyundai Creta Electric SUV - What Will It Look Like?
The test car seen is the current-gen Creta. The design is similar and there is nothing that is camouflaged on its design aspect. However, underneath its bonnet is a big battery pack that is suspected to be sourced from Kona EV. Kona features a 39.2kWh battery that makes 134 bhp of peak power. Hyundai claims to churn out 452 km of range from this setup. Meanwhile, the test module is seen charging at a fast charging station in Karnal, Haryana. This charging station is midst Delhi & Chandigarh which further indicates that the test car is on a long run. But, the charging is being done by opening the bonnet of it.
The e-Creta will be based on Hyundai's E-GMP architecture. This architecture is also used on Ioniq 5 & KIA EV6 as well. However, the design seen on the test car will not be used on the production model. Hyundai is also working on a Creta facelift which is supposed to launch in early 2024. It'll feature hefty design changes and hence the same design will be used on the electric variant. Feature-wise also the new model will introduce ADAS to Creta. Hence, we anticipate that the Creta Electric will also get ADAS and a 360-degree parking assist camera as well.
Verdict
Creta remains the best-selling mid-size SUV in its segment. However, the introduction of rivals like Tata Nexon EV Max & Mahindra XUV400 has pushed Hyundai to launch EVs in India. What could be a better option than the Creta itself then? As per online rumors, it'll launch in India by 2025 first-half, and the price is expected to remain upwards of Rs 20 lakh.
