Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been launched in India at 2023 Auto Expo motor show. The Ioniq 5 has been launched at the introductory price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The newly launched Ioniq 5 comes with a plethora of safety & convenience features. It comes with a 72.6 kWh battery pack and ARAI claimed range of 631 km. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 competes with the Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge in India. In this article we'll have a look at the pros and cons of the newly launched Hyundai Ioniq 5.
PROS
Futuristic Design
The Ioniq 5 BEV boasts a streamlined, cutting-edge design with a hint of nostalgic appeal. It is built on the company's E-GMP platform, which was created especially for BEVs. The distinctive design language is comprised of LED DRLs, auto flush door handles, R20 alloy wheels, a vision roof rail, and other design elements. With the Ioniq 5, Hyundai places a strong emphasis on sustainability, and the EV SUV's building components are likewise eco-friendly.
Powertrain
The Ioniq 5's electric motor is a rear-wheel drive (RWD) permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The battery pack for the motor is 72.6 kWh. The motor's power is 217 bhp, and its maximum torque is 350 Nm. The ARAI claims that the vehicle's range with this configuration is 631 kilometres. Additionally, the Ioniq 5 can be fully charged by an 11kW AC charger in 6 hours and 55 minutes. While a 50 kW DC charger can charge the vehicle from 10% to 80% in 57 minutes, a 350kW DC charger can fully charge it in 18 minutes.
Spacious Feature Rice Interior
Almost no other vehicle has a dashboard like the one in the IONIQ 5. Since the dashboard is unprotected by a hood, it appears to be rather open. The dashboard has two 12.3-inch displays incorporated into it. One is a touchscreen with smartphone compatibility, Bluetooth, and navigation, while the other is a digital instrument cluster immediately in front of the driver. These displays provide access to a variety of information, and each element has been made to be user-friendly. The IONIQ 5 features a spacious interior for a two-row SUV. The front trunk, which is accessible from the front of the car, is a secret surprise.
Good Number Of Safety Features
Six airbags, ESC with VSM, hill-start assistance, parking assistance and an electronic parking brake, TPMS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a multi-collision-avoidance brake (MCB), and other safety features are included with the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Of all the safety elements, the level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is one of the most important. The ADAS features include Lane Following Assist (LFA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC with S&G), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), and High Beam Assist, among others.
CONS
No AWD on Offer
All of the variations are well-refined and manage themselves with ease. However, some consumers could be expressly searching for tough SUVs that can comfortably handle challenging situations off the beaten path. The SUV is only available with a RWD drivetrain, which some owners may not like because it isn't particularly made for off-roading. In contrast, several rivals do produce trims made specifically for that.

High Price Tag
The Ioniq 5 was introduced by Hyundai at a starting price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom), which is valid for the first 500 buyers only. Due to the fact that this price will climb after the first 500 deliveries, the electric SUV is not a mass-market product and will not draw many customers.
Verdict: The Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV is rivalled by the KIA EV6 and the Volvo XC40 Recharge. The company has been able to maintain the pricing lower than the EV6 thanks to local assembly
