The IONIQ 5Hyundai Motor India Limited's (HMIL) flagship electric vehicleis launched in India for Rs. 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV comes in a single variant with a 72.6 kWh battery, and an ARAI-stated 631 km range. The company has already begun accepting bookings as of December 20 and will soon start deliveries. The brand has already made all of the EV's specifications public, and the Auto Expo is where the price was announced.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Exterior
The IONIQ 5 BEV has a sleek, modern appearance with a touch of retro appeal. It is constructed on the brand's E-GMP platform, which is designed specifically for BEVs. Parametric pixel LED headlights, LED DRLs, auto flush door handles, R20 alloy wheels, a vision roof rail, and other design components make up the distinctive design language. Hyundai is emphasizing sustainability with the Ioniq 5, and the materials used to construct the EV SUV are also environmentally friendly. The EV will make use of bio-paint, leather that has undergone environmentally friendly processing, environmentally friendly fabric, and more.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 Interior
The IONIQ 5's interior is quite stunning and will be very tastefully designed with some market-first features. The spacious, plain dashboard will improve the interior's appearance overall. A large panoramic sunroof that the company calls the Vision Roof is available, along with a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch driver display, wireless charging, a head-up display, rain sensing wipers, V2L (Vehicle to Load), powered front seats with memory function and other amenities. The EV also have a drawer-style glove box and a magnetic dashboard.

Hyundai IONIQ 5 Battery Specifications
The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) electric motor that powers the IONIQ 5 has a rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout. A 72.6 kWh battery pack is attached to the motor. The motor has a 217 bhp output and a 350 Nm maximum torque. With this setup, the ARAI claimed range of the vehicle is 631 km. Additionally, when it comes to charging, an 11kW AC charger can fully charge the IONIQ 5 in 6 hours and 55 minutes. A 350kW DC charger can charge the vehicle in 18 minutes, whereas a 50 kW DC charger can charge it from 10 to 80% in 57 minutes.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 Safety Features
Six airbags, ESC with VSM, hill-start assist, parking aid with an electronic parking brake, TPMS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a multi-collision-avoidance brake (MCB), and other safety features are among the IONIQ 5's safety features. The level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is one of the most significant safety features. The ADAS features are Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Rear Occupant Alert (ROA), Safe Exit Assist (SEA), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go (SCC with S&G), Lane Following Assist (LFA), High Beam Assist and more.
Verdict: The Volvo XC40 Recharge and the KIA EV6 are competitors of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV. Due to local assembly, the company has managed to keep the price lower than the EV6. The affordable price will help the brand to get more customers for this premium EV.
