Hyundai launched its second electric car Ioniq 5 in India at the 2023 auto expo. The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai's flagship product in India and was launched at the introductory price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 500 customers. The bookings of Ioniq 5 have already crossed the 500-hundred mark. In fact, the crossover EV has gathered over 650 bookings since its launch. Thus, Hyundai has hiked the prices of Ioniq 5 by Rs 1 lakh. The electric crossover now costs Rs 45.95 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Powertrain Specs
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a rear-wheel drive EV that gets a rear axle-mounted electric motor generating 217 bhp of power and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 72.6 kWh battery pack and comes with an ARAI-claimed range of 631 km. Hyundai has electronically limited the top speed of the EV to 185 kmph.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Features
Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a feature and tech-loaded crossover electric vehicle. It gets several advanced features like Hyundai Smart Sense level 2 ADAS, next-gen Bluelink connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, heated & ventilated seats, electric seats, V2L (Vehicle to Load) power sharing, memory seats, Home-to-car (H2C) with Alexa & Google Voice Assistant, etc.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Rivals & Segment
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 rivals the likes of the Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge. However, the Ioniq 5 is the most affordable option among both of its rivals. This is because of Hyundai's strategy to use the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route for Ioniq 5. On the other hand, the Kia EV6 is sold in India through the CBU route (Completely Built Units).

Verdict: Though Hyundai has hiked the price of the Ioniq 5 by Rs 1 lakh taking its new price to Rs 45.95 lakh, it still is far more cheaper and affordable compared to the likes of the Volvo XC40 Recharge priced at Rs 55.90 lakh and Kia EV6 priced between Rs 60.95 lakh to Rs 65.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
