Hyundai and its sister company Kia are all set to release the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 premium electric SUVs. Both electric SUVs are built on the same Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), have many mechanical components in common, and have similar technological characteristics. The Ioniq 5 and EV6 are built on the Hyundai's E-GMP platform which is dedicated for the electric vehicles. The EV6 has a sporty design with a coupe-like profile and plenty of curving components, and its high back deck adds to the sporty mood. The Ioniq 5 is brighter and has a vintage design. The futuristic headlight and rear light design are likely to catch people's attention.

Despite the fact that both EVs are based on the same platform, the Hyundai Ioniq 5's wheelbase is a full 100 mm longer than the EV6's. The Ioniq 5 is the taller of the two vehicles due to its more SUV-like appearance.

Both EVs have the same specifications, but the Ioniq 5 may also get a smaller 58 kWh battery pack option. The major distinction is range, with the RWD Kia EV6 getting 21 km more range and the AWD Kia EV6 getting 17 km more range than the Ioniq 5. This could be due to the EV6's more aerodynamic design.

The EV6 will come with a slew of modern technology and features. It includes two 12.3-inch screens, a 10-way power adjustable driver and passenger seat with memory function for the driver, dual-zone temperature control, UV glass, ventilated driver and passenger seats, multi-driving modes, rain sensing wipers, and LED DRLs and headlights, to name a few. Above and beyond these features, the GT line adds a powered tailgate, Meridian premium sound system, AR Head-Up Display, and more.
When it comes to safety features, the EV6 will include Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), ABS, ESC, Multi-Collision Brake Assist, all-four disc brakes, brake assistant system, VSM, 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors, and other critical safety equipment.
The international model of the Ioniq 5 has an unique interior feature called the 'Universal Island,' which is a moveable central console. This unique centre console can be shifted back and forth by 5.5 inches. Other notable interior features of the Ioniq 5 include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, AR-HUD, column-type shift-by-wire, sliding (5.3 inches forward) and reclining second-row seats, 'Vision Roof' panoramic sunroof without cross members, 15-watt wireless smartphone charger, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 vs Kia EV6 - Price
Hyundai plans to bring its flagship electric SUV as a CKD unit and then manufacture it in the country. Hyundai will be able to keep the Ioniq 5 electric SUV's price in India around Rs 50-55 lakh due to local manufacturing. The Kia EV6, on the other hand, would be imported as a CBU, raising the price of the EV to roughly Rs 65 lakh for the RWD variant and Rs 70 lakh for the AWD GT option, according to leaked pricing. The Kia EV6 will go on sale on June 2nd, with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 following suit by the end of the year.
All of these prices are merely estimates at the time of writing; the brands have yet to reveal the exact prices for both EVs.
