After the announcement of the Kia EV6 in India, Hyundai has confirmed the launch of the IONIQ 5 BEV in the Indian market in the second half of the year. The Hyundai IONIQ 5, which was recently crowned World Car of the Year (WCOTY) 2022, will kick off Hyundai's BEV development plans in India.

The IONIQ 5 is based on Hyundai Motor Group's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), a revolutionary platform designed specifically for next-generation battery-electric vehicles that will usher in a new age of clean mobility for the company. Under the banner of Beyond Mobility, IONIQ 5 will set a new standard in India by combining intelligent technology, sustainability, and creativity to revolutionize the electric mobility lifestyle.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 will most likely be available in a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive version that produces 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. The 125kW motor will be powered by a 58 kWh battery pack, with a stated range of 384 kilometres on a single charge. The IONIQ 5 may be available with the more powerful 72.6 kWh battery type on higher models.
The official launch date for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 in India is yet to be announced by the Korean automaker. Similarly, the official specifications have yet to be released.
