Maruti Baleno, WagonR Recalled: Your Car On This List?
Maruti Suzuki is voluntarily recalling around 16,000 units of the Baleno and WagonR hatchback to fix an error with the fuel pump. It is recalling 11,851 units of Baleno and 4190 units of the WagonR. The issue at hand is a defective fuel pump motor that can cause hiccups like stalling of the engine or engine starting issues. However, not all the units carry a potentially faulty part, only units manufactured from 30 July to November 1, 2019, come under this recall.
Maruti Suzuki is contacting the customers with the affected vehicles for a visit to the nearest service center. The faulty part will be replaced free of cost. While recalls are not very common, brands keep taking this route from time to time. This is done to rectify a particular issue with the car when reported by many buyers. On a side note, Hyundai Creta and Verna iVT petrol units are also being recalled over an electronic issue.

Maruti Grand Vitara 7-Seater Coming Soon? 'Escudo' And 'Torqnado' Names Trademarked
As Maruti trademarks 2 new names in India, there is an increased whisper regarding a probable launch of the 7-seater Grand Vitara. The brand has trademarked the 'Escudo' name in the country, a name that already has a history in Japan for all the generations of this SUV. Coupling this with the fact that there have been discussions on multiple occasions within the automotive world of a probable 7-seater version of the Grand Vitara soon in India.
Currently, we only get a 5-seater version powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a choice for either a strong hybrid or a mild-hybrid version. Another trademark by the brand is 'Torqnado' but there is no concrete scoop on its usage within the portfolio.
Verdict
While recalls are not very common, they aren't absolutely rare. It is just a coincidence that both Hyundai and Maruti are making this move at the same time and does not signify any general trend. However, it is a welcome move by the brand to own upto the issue and resolving it proactively.
