The leading manufacturer of CNG cars in the Indian market is Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL). The company has 10 CNG models available, making it one of the largest CNG portfolios. The CNG version of MSIL's XL6 MPV is now ready for release in India. Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Baleno CNG are expected to be launched in the upcoming weeks, according to our dealership sources. Soon after the details came out, the brand has launched the CNG variants of both vehicles today.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 CNG
Maruti Suzuki currently sells the Ertiga MPV with CNG powertrain. The launch of the XL6 CNG will help the brand to capture a significant number of buyers looking for CNG MPV.
Currently, the 1.5-liter petrol engine that powers the XL6 delivers 102 bhp of power and 136.8 Nm of maximum torque. The same 1.5-liter CNG powertrain from the Ertiga, is anticipated to be included in the CNG version of the vehicle. The 1.5-liter engine in the Ertiga CNG generates 88 bhp and 121.5 Nm of peak torque when running on CNG and 99 bhp and 136 Nm of power while operating on petrol. The engine is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Ertiga CNG give a mileage of 26.11 km/kg. The upcoming XL6 CNG will have the exact same engine setup.

The XL6 Zeta variant, which is the base model of the car, will be the only one to have a CNG powertrain.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG
The other Nexa model to receive a CNG powertrain is the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. A 1.2-liter NA petrol engine with 89 bhp of output and 113 Nm of maximum torque is currently used in the Baleno. Both a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission are used with this engine.

The Swift & Dzire's CNG powertrain is likely to be employed in the Baleno CNG as well. The upcoming Baleno CNG will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that powers the Swift and Dzire. When using CNG, it has a maximum torque of 98.5 Nm and 76 bhp of power. Only two variants of the Baleno CNG will be released, the Delta and Zeta.
Verdict: The Nexa lineup's first two vehicles with a CNG engines will be the Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Baleno. The first premium hatchback with a CNG engine option will be the Baleno. Maruti would be able to increase its consumer base with the introduction of CNG engines in these vehicles.
