Maruti Swift Hybrid to be launched soon: THIS IS WHY

Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that it will discontinue the diesel engine options in the Indian market after April 2020. After the BS6 emission compliance gets implemented in the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki will not offer any diesel engine powered products. Well, India is a country that has always given high regard to the mileage and diesel vehicles offer a superior mileage than their petrol counterparts. To overcome this problem, the company will bring in new technologies to their Indian cars, starting with the Maruti Swift Hybrid.

To tackle the absence of diesel engines from the market immediately, Maruti Suzuki has already started launching CNG-powered vehicles in the market. There are quite a few CNG variants of the models. Also, the manufacturer is already offering the SHVS Smart Hybrid system with five cars to offer superior fuel efficiency. In the future, Maruti Suzuki will also offer stronger parallel hybrid systems to increase the fuel efficiency level of the vehicles. We told you about this on an earlier occasions too.

Maruti Swift Hybrid was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and the car attracted a lot of visitors. With a claimed mileage of 32 km/l as per Japanese test cycle, the Swift Hybrid is one of the most fuel-efficient petrol vehicles.

The hatchback offers dual power sources that ensure maximum fuel efficiency. The car comes powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 92 PS and 118 Nm of peak torque. There is an additional 48V electric motor that offers 13.6 PS and 30 Nm. The electric motor gets a dedicated battery that gets recharged with the regenerative energy.

The high fuel efficiency is achieved since the electric motor assists the petrol engine during power-hungry processes like acceleration. This ensures that there is minimal load on the petrol engine, which saves fuel. Also, the 48V motor helps saving fuel by offering power when the car coasts on the highways. These benefits allow Swift Hybrid to achieve exceptional mileage.

Maruti Suzuki may offer similar technology in other cars too. However, it may increase the price of the car significantly. Maruti Suzuki will have to keep the price competitive since the Indian market is also a very price-sensitive market.
