MG Crossover EV: Design & Features
There is a reason why MG is calling it an 'Intelligent CUV' via the banners on the test car. It is because this upcoming EV will feature loads of connected tech while its 'CUV - Crossover Utility Vehicle' tag will be justified by its design. The overall silhouette of it is inspired by a hatchback design. However, it is going to be a long & big EV with an estimated length between 4.3-4.5 meters. The spacious yet cute design is evident through the spy pics.
Additionally, the big glass area would result in an airy cabin feel for the passengers. Further details of its exterior design are yet to be explored as the test car is seen with heavy camouflage, even on the alloy wheels. A photo of the cabin shows it'll get a unique dashboard design with a three-spoke steering wheel and a big floating infotainment screen. Unlike modern cars, which have a single connected panel for the instrument console, it has a separate digital screen for the speedometer. MG is likely to equip it with a panoramic sunroof as well.
Battery, Range, Price, Launch Timeline
While no further details are available for this upcoming Crossover, it is rumoured online that it'll get an identical powertrain to the current ZS EV. If so, then a 50kWh battery pack will power it with a max output of 175 bhp & 280 Nm of peak torque. It could very well deliver more than 450 km of range on a single charge. Meanwhile, speaking of its Indian launch timeline, MG will introduce it in the first quarter of next year. MG also has plans to introduce a facelift of the ZS EV. The pricing of this upcoming Crossover EV can be around Rs 25-30 lakh.
