Compared to the regular version, the Monster Energy Yamaha Moto GP-inspired Yamaha MT-15 is only Rs 3,000 dearer. Akin to the standard version, the special edition will go on to lock horns with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the KTM 125 Duke. That said, the new model is positioned bang in the middle of its close rivals when it comes to the price positioning as its about Rs 35,000 costlier than the Bajaj and TVS offerings while being as much as Rs 22,000 more affordable than the aforementioned Katoom.
The Monster Energy Yamaha Moto GP-inspired Yamaha MT-15 stays much like the model its based on, with the only variation arising out of the new colour scheme and decals. In fact, the Moto GP livery looks quote good on this street-naked but misses out on the stylish blue inserts that are found on the FZ 25 MotoGP version. That said, the smaller motorcycle does get blue graphics on the radiator shrouds. The special model even gets Monster Energy decals, while the Yamaha insignia on the fuel tank has a golden finish.
Nothing has changed in terms of specifications, which means powering the new model is the same VVA-equipped 155cc single-potter that powers the regular MT-15. This engine is capable of pushing out a maximum power of 18.5 PS and a peak torque of 13.9 Nm. The features list of the motorcycle includes LED lights, single-channel ABS, all-digital LCD speedo cluster, and a slipper-and-assist clutch.
