The Mahindra Scorpio is due to be replaced with the next-gen Scorpio has been spotted testing on multiple occasions. The new Scorpio will be a completely new product and will feature a number of changes that will make it a worthy upgrade for the current Scorpio owners and also a great choice for those looking for a true SUV. Having said this, with the launch of the car expected to be scheduled in the first half of 2022, here are the top 7 things about the new Mahindra Scorpio that you should know.
Underpinnings
The next-gen Mahindra Scorpio is said to share its underpinnings with the newly launched Mahindra Thar. This means that this new ladder-on-frame chassis of the car will not only help it boasts some incredible capabilities and a rugged character but is also expected to improve the dynamics and safety levels of the car by a fair margin. Likewise, reworked suspension and other mechanical components too will be introduced with the new Mahindra Scorpio.

Features
While the present Mahindra Scorpio too comes with a long list of features, the new-gen model is expected to be even better when it comes to features and in-cabin experience. The new iteration of the vehicle is expected to come with a new, large infotainment system with modern connectivity features, a 360-degree camera, rear AC vents, cruise control, a large sunroof, push-button start, etc. Other features like automatic climate control, connected car tech, etc will also be on offer.
Engine and Gearbox
Mahindra is expected to offer a 2.2-L turbo diesel and a 2.0-L petrol engine option along with the new Scorpio. We see the same engines being offered with the Thar both of these boasts supreme regiment and performance. While both these motors boast a maximum power output of 150 bhp in the Thar, the Scorpio is expected to get tuned versions of these engines to offer better performance figures. Having said this, the buyers will be able to opt for either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox with both these engine options. The optional all-wheel-drive system may also be on offer with select variants.
Design
We will see a completely new exterior body design with the new Scorpio but the SUV will retain its high stance and a bold road presence. In addition to this, the car will also be longer and wider than before and will offer features like dynamic indicators, dual cut alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, power-operated ORVMs, rear spoiler, etc. In all, the new Scorpio will offer a strong and imposing design language that will definitely be appreciated by hardcore SUV enthusiasts.

Interiors and Seating Configuration
Needless to say, the interiors of the new Scorpio too will be completely new and will offer supreme levels of luxury and comfort levels. The car is expected to offer large bottle holders in all the door trims in addition to other add-ons like a large armrest at the front, cooled glovebox, large sunroof, new instrument console, roof-mounted speakers, better and more comfortable seats, and many other changes. The car will also offer multiple seating configurations inside the cabin. For starters, the buyers will be able to either opt for captain chairs in the second row or go with a standard bench. The third row too will get two options that include verticle and side facing seat options.
Launch Date
The New Scorpio is expected to be introduced in the first half of 2022 and will be the third SUV from the brand to feature a completely new iteration after the launch of the Thar and the new XUV700. Once launched, the new Scorpio will be placed between the Thar and the XUV700 in the brand's line-up.

Expected Price
Mahindra is expected to launch the new Scorpio at extremely aggressive prices and the car is expected to be priced from around INR 12.5-13 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the range-topping variant on the other hand may go as high as INR 18-19 lakh (ex-showroom).
