The mid-life facelift of Maruti Suzuki Brezza has went on sale with new features and styling. Following this, the company intends to introduce a new mid-size SUV, which is likely to be a rebadged version of the newly unveiled Toyota HyRyder. On July 20, a new mid-size SUV with the name Vitara is expected to be introduced. A strong hybrid and a mild hybrid powertrain will both be available in the new Maruti SUV.

The upcoming SUV, which is being developed in partnership with Toyota, has the codename YFG. The upcoming YFG is expected to share the same features and equipment as the recently unveiled Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder and will be built on the same platform. Maruti could make some changes to the outside appearance to set it apart from the HyRyder.
In terms of engine characteristics, a 1.5-liter NA petrol K-series engine with mild hybrid technology is anticipated for better fuel economy. The mild hybrid system will provide 100 bhp of power and 135 nm of torque. The mild-hybrid model will be available with both a 6-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual transmission.
A 1.5-liter petrol engine with strong hybrid technology will be the other engine. This engine will produce 114 bhp of power and 141 Nm of peak torque. Toyota will provide a strong hybrid engine, which will be mated to an e-CVT transmission. The strong hybrid engine will enable the SUV to operate in pure EV mode.
A 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, various drive modes, an Arkamys sound system, six airbags, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Suzuki Connect telematics, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a sunroof, a wireless charger, and leatherette upholstery are among the features of the new SUV.

The upcoming Maruti SUV is expected to have a 2WD powertrain in the lower trims and an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain in the top-spec model. The production of the new SUV will start in Toyota's Karnataka plant from next month. Once it is released, the Maruti SUV will compete against the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, VW Taigun, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Kia Seltos.
