Let's look at what changes it brings along with other details.
NEXT-Gen Maruti Swift Unveiled At Tokyo Motor Show
The latest Swift boasts fresh aesthetics both inside and out. It retains its unmistakable Swift identity but with several new design elements. The front end features a flatter profile with sharp headlamps positioned at the corners, featuring LED daytime running lamps and a projector setup all indicative of its readiness for production. The grille has been restyled, now larger and rounded at the edges, adorned with a gloss black and dark chrome finish, and the Suzuki logo is positioned just below the bonnet.

The new Swift features prominent character lines running along its sides, merging seamlessly with the headlamps. While the roofline and glasshouse design is reminiscent of the outgoing model, there are significant changes in the door designs, particularly at the rear, where conventional door handles have replaced the pillar-mounted ones. The Tokyo showcase Swift includes ADAS features, but it remains uncertain whether these will be offered in the Indian market.
The interior of the new Swift has undergone significant changes, featuring an updated cockpit. A notable addition is the new 9-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a considerable upgrade from the current 7-inch touchscreen. Changes are also evident in the design and positioning of the air vents, along with a fresh color theme for the dashboard. With these updates, the cockpit area still feels nice and the controls are well within reach of the driver.
Powertrain
In select international markets, the Swift may receive an engine upgrade, potentially incorporating a 1.4L K14B petrol engine with a 48V strong hybrid architecture. However, in India, the new Swift is expected to retain the existing 1.2-liter K Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine, which delivers 90 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will continue to include a 5-speed manual (5MT) and a 5-speed automated manual transmission (5AMT).
Verdict
The upcoming Swift, showcased as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, promises a fresh and sporty design with noticeable updates both inside and out. While some markets may receive a strong hybrid powertrain, India is likely to stick with the tried-and-tested 1.2-liter K Series engine. With a larger infotainment display and improved interior aesthetics, the new Swift aims to offer a contemporary driving experience. Also, If you are someone with a passion for engines mounted on wheels, you must join our Whatsapp Group Community of petrolheads to find out more exciting stuff about the Auto world.
