Tata Nexon CNG: What To Expect?
At the Bharat Mobility Expo'24, Tata showcased the iCNG version of Nexon. The showcased car looked similar to the petrol Nexon, with the only difference being a new blue colour & iCNG badges. However, the major change was its dual-cylinder turbo-CNG powertrain. While Tata did not reveal the specifications of it then, it is now revealed that it'll use the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine as on the petrol Nexon. Moreover, the Nexon CNG will launch in the fiscal year 2025.
With its debut, the Nexon CNG will not only become the first-ever turbo-CNG car, but, it'll also become the first car to get four drivetrain options. Tata already sells diesel, petrol, and EV iterations of Nexon in India. The CNG version will add up to make a total of four powertrain options for consumers. Another interesting thing to notice would be its gearbox options. While we can confirm that it'll get a 6-speed manual transmission, an AMT gearbox can not be denied as well. Tata launched Tiago AMT CNG and Tigor AMT CNG earlier this year, hence, Nexon CNG can also get a similar option.
With the CNG powertrain, the main aim would be to defeat the Maruti Brezza CNG's supremacy. The Brezza CNG is not the only compact SUV that offers a CNG option, but it also sells in higher volumes. Tata aims to target these sales figures with the Nexon CNG. In terms of pricing, we assume a hike of a minimal Rs 1 lakh over its petrol counterparts. More details about the CNG Nexon will be revealed as we approach its launch timeline.

Verdict
Tata introduced CNG powertrain to its popular cars like the Punch SUV, and ever since the sales figures have raised exponentially. Customers look for cheaper alternatives and CNG is still one of the primary options for consumers with higher annual use. Therefore, the CNG Nexon could become the best-seller for Tata, post its launch.
