- Toyota will launch the Fronx-based crossover in India by the end of 2023.
- Codenamed A15, the vehicle will carry some cosmetic differentiation.
- Powertrain options will remain the same but slight differentiation could be there in the variant line-up.
Maruti Suzuki took the wraps off the Fronx crossover at the 2023 Auto Expo. The Baleno-based vehicle was in the works for a long time and its test mule was being spotted on a regular basis. The Fronx is finally out in full flesh and the Japanese brand could launch it in the domestic market in the next 2-3 months, i.e. around April 2023. Taking the Maruti-Toyota partnership ahead, a new Fronx-based rebadged Toyota crossover will also be launched by the end of 2023.

Toyota Fronx-Based Crossover: Details
The Maruti Suzuki Fronx utilizes the same Heartect platform as the Baleno and it will also do the duties in the upcoming Toyota crossover. Thus it is safe to say that the A15 will carry the same dimensions as the Fronx. Furthermore, the powertrain options will also be retained, which include the 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine and the 1.2-litre K12C petrol motor. The power output figures will also be familiar.
The only differentiating element between both vehicles will be the exterior design. Although the overall silhouette will remain identical, Toyota will likely do away with a slightly different exterior styling, like redesigned bumpers, front grille as well as different colour options. Inside the cabin, expect the Japanese carmaker to do some changes to the upholstery. Apart from these changes, everything else will remain exactly the same.

Verdict: Toyota Fronx-based crossover could make sense as we have already seen that rebadged vehicles in the brand's line-up are doing quite well in terms of sales figures. A different design for the A15 crossover will help it stand out and the brand value associated with the Toyota badge is bound to pull some crowd.
