We presented to you the first exclusive spy photos of the upcoming Toyota SUV. As the development continues, the upcoming Toyota Hyryder Hybrid SUV is slated for a global debut soon. Toyota is going to unveil the car internationally on July 1. The launch is expected to take place around the festive season later this year.

Suspected to be called as Hyryder Hybrid; the upcoming SUV will rival the mid-size SUV segment. The competitors include Hyundai Creta, KIA Seltos, Tata Harrier, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, & MG Hector Plus. Toyota has codenamed the car a D22 mid-size SUV. Its counterpart is being developed by Maruti Suzuki which is codenamed YFG. The YFG SUV is expected to make its debut after a few months after Hyryder's debut.

The upcoming car is being developed on Toyota's platform called 'TNGA-B' or 'DNGA'. This platform is also being used by the Maruti YFG SUV. It is a heavily localized platform that will ensure low production costs. This means that the upcoming SUV duo will be priced aggressively when compared to its rivals.
Although, there are no official details regarding the engine specs; we expect two different engine options. The lower & mid variants will use a petrol & mild-hybrid engine option while the top-end trims are anticipated to use full hybrid tech. The hybrid tech may allow the Hyryder to run as a complete EV for short stints. Additionally, the SUV will offer options between manual as well as automatic transmission options.

Feature-wise, the Hyryder is anticipated to bring strong competition to the well-established rivals as such Creta. We expect the SUV duo to come equipped with a long list of features & latest tech. These might include a driver Heads Up Display, sunroof, wireless charging, big infotainment screens with multimedia options, cruiser control, LED lighting, multiple drive modes, etc.
The expected India launch is around the upcoming festive season. Contrary, Maruti will take its time and the YFG SUV will debut after a few months later. We at 91Wheels expect tough competition from this SUV duo to the omnipresent rivals.
