Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV will be the latest product from the company in India. It will feature a Mild Hybrid as well as a Strong Hybrid technology.
Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is going to launch in India on upcoming August 16. The new SUV will be the latest addition to the brand's Indian lineup. The production of the Hyryder has already commenced at the Karnataka-based plant. The car has already started to arrive at various dealerships pan India.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV Details
The Toyota Hyryder has been developed alongside the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. In fact, both of these SUVs are similar under the flesh due to the shared technologies as well as the platform. The chassis is based on Toyota's TNGA platform architecture and hence the overall build of the car is being promised well. We expect that the pricing of the upcoming Hyryder will range between Rs 9.5 - 19 lakh ex-showroom.
While the architecture is similar, the Hyryder is different in design than the Grand Vitara. Toyota has used its latest design language treatment on it to make it look distinguished. The Hyryder will be available in a total of 7 single-tone & 4 dual-tone colour options upon the launch. Toyota plans to sell a total of 4 variants for the Hyryder which include - E, S, G, & V.
Engine & Specifications
Toyota will be equipping the E variant with the 1.5-Lt K15C petrol engine sourced from Maruti. This engine churns out peak power of 101 hp and 135 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated with an option of a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The mild-hybrid engine will mainly focus on the engine idle start/stop fuel saving.
Contrary to this, the other variants will get a strong hybrid engine. The same 1.5-Lt K15C will be powered by an Atkinson Cycle petrol engine with THS (Toyota Hybrid System). However, the petrol unit will make peak power of 91 hp and 122 Nm of peak torque in it. The electric unit will make 79 hp and 141 Nm of torque. The combined power output stands at 114 hp. These variants shall also be offered with an AWD system and an e-drive transmission.

Whereas the Maruti Grand Vitara claims that its strong hybrid engine can churn out 27.97 kmpl of fuel economy; we suspect the same for the Hyryder. Additionally, the Hyryder will be feature-rich as well. It will get a 9-inch touchscreen, 360-degree park assist, HUD, 6 airbags, etc. The main rivals of the Hyryder include - Hyundai Creta, KIA Seltos, & Mahindra XUV700.
