Electric Creta - What Will It Be?
This latest e-Creta test mule was spied on a highway run. While the test mule looks exactly like the current ICE Creta; it is surely different underneath its body. Hyundai seems to be running the current body as a test cover as it has no radiator & no exhaust pipes (see spy shots). However, the e-Creta will only launch sometime in 2025. It'll be based on the next-gen Creta that is suspected to launch next year in India.
Meanwhile, the cosmetic design is still questionable; it is what it'll behold underneath. As per online rumors, it is going to use the Kona EV powertrain in a different state of tune. This means it might be powered via the 100kW electric motor that makes 136 bhp of peak power & 395 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the rumors also hint that it can very well get a real-world driving range of more than 400 km per charge. If this happens, it'll easily surpass its rivals like Tata Nexon EV Max, MG ZS EV, & Mahindra XUV 400.
Verdict - India Launch & Price
Hyundai currently rules the number 2 position in India. However, it has once been beaten up by Tata & the possibility of it happening once again is also high. Why so? It is because Tata has made a strong EV portfolio. Hence, Hyundai needs to be present in the boat that everyone aims to sail in. Therefore, the e-Creta will surely launch in India but not before 2025. Also, it'll be priced well above Rs 20 lakh due EV structure.
